09 Jun Kingston New York Editorial Photography | Chronogram Shoot
Jam Session Spring 2015 Fashion Shoot.
I had pleasure to be hired by Chronogram magazine to do a “fashion meets musicians” photo story. Chronograms Editorial Director, Brian Mahoney called me up and wanted to know if I would be interested in shooting for the magazine. Needless to say, YES. For those who do not know the magazine it’s an arts and culture monthly based in the Hudson Valley. Very well designed and printed and they always have interesting covers. So I jumped at the idea. Brian arranged all of the talent and the clothes to be photographed as well as our location BSP in Uptown Kingston. Our list of subjects included, Lindsey Webster, Simi Stone, Tim Sutton, Paul Green, Young Paris, Sarah Perotta, Anthony Molina, and Maria Todaro. All wonderful. The location on the other hand was a tough space to shoot in as it was a bar/performance space. We had a combination of dark areas, or brightly painted walls, neither of which should be seen in bright light, but we made due. I equated it to a photography test. How to make 7-8 portraits in a room without making them all too similar, in the end I passed with flying colors. Brian and David Perry, the art director, saw an image of Simi come up on the computer while I was shooting and they both agreed that they saw a cover in the making. How very cool, considering we were not going for one at the time. The portraits all came out great and in the end I was very happy. Thanks to Gina Truhe for her beautiful makeup work and of course Lucia Reale-Vogt for the production and on set support.
